Environmental zone of Darmstadt - Heinrichstraße
In accordance with the 3rd update of the Clean Air Plan of the Land, on 01.06.2019 the Hessian city of Darmstadt has imposed driving bans on the two transit roads of Heinrichstraße and Hügelstraße.
These restrictions mainly apply to all diesel vehicles of all types, including buses and trucks with EURO standards 1-5. The driving ban also applies to petrol vehicles with EURO standards 0-2.
The driving ban for Heinrichstraße applies to a 640 m long section between Karlstraße and Heidelberger Straße. The driving ban is also valid for petrol vehicles with EURO standards 0-2.
The blocked sections and the possible deviations can be viewed on the interactive map of the free Green-Zones app. Same for possible exemptions and contact addresses.

The Blue Badge for Diesel Restriction Zones
In Germany, the Blue Badge might be introduced in 2020. It is required to access diesel restriction zones.
In 2020, cities and communities will introduce driving restrictions for various EURO classes of diesel vehicles. Therefore, the Blue Badge becomes a need in order to distinguish older diesel vehicles and EURO classes as well as petrol vehicles without particle filter from vehicles with a lower emission of pollutants.
